Wike Starts Campaign To Suspend Atiku, Tambuwal From PDP
By Emmanuel Aziken
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has called on the National Working Committee, NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to suspend the party’s 2023 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal.
Wike spoke in an interview on Channels Television programme, Politis Today on Thursday where he also dismissed former PDP presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu as a man of insignificant political capacity who he said cannot win anything in his local government.
Wike spoke in reaction to the outcome of the PEPT judgment that gave victory to President Bola Tinubu. He described the pronunciation of the appeal court jurists as profound and laced with technical and practical assertions.
Asked if the judgment betrayed the will of the people, Wike said:
“The will of the people is determined through the ballot box. How could PDP have won the election when you consider the mood of the nation at that time?
“…the PDP did not win because of high-handedness, because of greed because of impunity.. If the PDP had done what they were supposed to do, then you could have talked about that.
“There should be equity, there should be justice, there should be fairness and that is why I am calling on the National Working Committee they should suspend the presidential candidate, suspend people like Aminu Tambuwal so that they can rebuild the party (PDP).”
GWG.ng reports that Wike and Tambuwal were once a tag team and combined vainly against Atiku in the 2018 presidential primaries of the PDP and hence the irony of the call from Wike to suspend the former Sokoto State governor.
