Atiku Abubakar has denied insinuations on betraying his friend President Bola Tinubu saying that their political relationship ended in 2007 even as he insisted that the university certificate presented by the president to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was forged.

Atiku spoke at a press conference just as his lawyers insisted that they have been armed with four issues from the documents obtained from the Chicago State University to upturn the election in the Supreme Court.

Atiku said the revelations from the documents obtained from the United States now vindicate the late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi who he said can now rest in peace given that what he started about 22 years ago has come to fruition.

Asked if it is true that he betrayed Tinubu by exposing him, he said:

“In 2007 we came to form AC and in Lagos I got the ticket. After I got the ticket he sent about five men to meet me. They said that Bola wanted to be my running mate.”

Atiku said that he dismissed the request on the claim that he could not run on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“That was the end of the political relationship, he broke away to go and support Yar’Adua.”

Even more, he said that he was the one that helped Tinubu to survive the offensive by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I stood between Obasanjo and himself and said you cannot take over Lagos,” Atiku said as he insisted that he did not stab Tinubu in the back.

“I vehemently deny that I stabbed him at the back and till today I don’t have to do Muslim Muslim ticket, I don’t believe that it is right. Our government should reflect our diversity.”

Also speaking at the press conference, Atiku’s lawyer, Kalu Kalu insisted that the certificate presented to INEC by Tinubu was forged.

Besides, he said that the Southwest certificate presented to gain admission belongs to a female and that the NYSC certificate bears Adekunle.
