The Department of State Services, DSS has waded into the sex scandal in the University of Calabar, UNICAL centered around Professor Cyril Ndifon following the invitation by the Indpedendent Corrupt practises and other related offenses Commission, ICPC.

Ndifon was accused by some of his female students to have repeatedly sexually assaulted them.

The intervention of the DSS came as the agency arrested the embattled professor of law on Thursday, in an operation that Ndifon’s family had alleged was perpetrated by unknown gunmen.

GWG.ng reports that the wife of the professor and other family members had on Thursday told newsmen that he had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

However, clarifying the development, the DSS in a statement issued by Dr Peter Afunanya, director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications said:

“The ICPC has sought the collaboration of the Department of State Services (DSS) on the University of Calabar (UNICAL) Sex Scandal matter involving Professor Cyril NDIFON, the erstwhile Dean of Faculty of Law of the Institution.

“The Commission had disclosed the refusal of NDIFON to honour its several invitations thus his eventual arrest in Calabar, Cross River State by its operatives on 4th October, 2023 based on a Court Order. However, the Service, following the Commission’s request and in the spirit of interagency cooperation, supported it for a successful operation.

“This is to guide public understanding of the latest developments on the matter.”

GWG.ng reports that Ndifon had before the intervention of the DSS and ICPC denied culpability over the allegations made against him.
