In a bizarre turn of events, a young Nigerian woman has taken a drastic step after a loan company announced her obituary to all her contacts following her default on a loan.

A viral video circulating on social media captured the woman’s heated phone conversation with a representative from the loan app.

In the video, the woman, who defaulted on her loan, vehemently refused to repay the money, citing her proclaimed death following the loan company’s announcement of her obituary. “You guys posted my obituary, called all my contacts, and still expected me to pay? I’m already dead, I can’t pay the money,” she asserted during the conversation.

Despite her claims, the loan app agent seemed unaware of the situation, urging her to fulfill her financial obligations. The incident has sparked a debate online, raising questions about the loan company’s practices and the ethical implications of declaring someone’s obituary prematurely because of a loan default.

nnaezema stated: “You borrowed money and refused to pay and you’re shamelessly making video about it 🤦.”

sami_oamen added: “The money in question might not even be more than 5k, why did they publish her Obituary and why did she also not pay.”

kaurday said: “This is why Nigerians often can’t get basic things they could easily buy and pay for bit by bit. It seems like everyone in Nigeria, whether rich or poor, wants to take a loan and never pay it back – that’s the problem.”

Homiebishop added: “This is very bad this is someone else business, if you are not going to pay up why loan from them. Pay them up or face those embarrassment.
