APC Disagress As PDP Mocks Confidence Vote On Akeredolu By Cabinet Members

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sharply criticized the ‘vote of confidence’ passed on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu by his cabinet members, denouncing it as a metaphorical “dance in the marketplace naked.”

The opposition party questioned the legitimacy of the State Executive Committee’s communique, especially considering the convalescing governor’s undisclosed whereabouts for over 65 days.

The PDP in the statement released by the state publicity secretary Kennedy Ikantu Peretei emphasized the precarious situation, likening the ship of the state to one floating aimlessly on the high sea without a captain or direction, on the brink of a potentially perilous cliff.

The PDP asserted that the decision of the State Executive Committee to publicly express confidence, despite the prevailing uncertainties, signals the impending end of Akeredolu’s government. The ridicule heightened as two State Commissioners dismissed the communique as ‘senseless’ and having ‘no effect.’

The PDP, addressing Akeredolu’s appointees, urged them to uphold honor in discharging their responsibilities rather than subjecting themselves to mockery in the eyes of the public.

However, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed disappointment with the PDP’s criticism, considering it uninformed and negative. The APC defended the State Executive Council’s resolution on Governor Akeredolu’s government, noting that the majority of cabinet members supported the communique, with only two abstentions.

The party applauded the Director-General of Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit, Mr. Babajide Akeredolu, for actively inspecting ongoing projects, refuting claims of no project execution.

In conclusion, the APC validated the State Executive Council’s resolution, expressing overwhelming confidence in Governor Akeredolu and his cabinet. The party commended their dedication to bringing dividends of democracy to the people and acknowledged their tireless efforts for the overall good and interest of Ondo State.
