Big Brother Naija reality star, Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, popularly known as Doyin, has opened up on her experience when she discussed the loss of her virginity with her mother.

In an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, Doyin highlighted the importance of open communication between parents and children, especially regarding sex education.

Doyin emphasized that many parents neglect discussing sex education with their children, leading to misinformation from external sources. She revealed her own experience, stating, “When I lost my virginity, I spoke to my mum about it. I said, ‘Mummy, this thing [coitus] did not feel this way.’ And we had a conversation. She was like, ‘Okay, this is what you should do. Do you use a condom?’”

According to Doyin, parents should create an environment where their children feel comfortable discussing such matters. She stressed the significance of open dialogue, sharing personal details with her mother, such as not enjoying sex for a while. Doyin expressed the importance of parental guidance in providing accurate information and dispelling misconceptions.

In her words, “So, sex education starts from the house. Parents need to create that kind of environment where their kids can speak to them about anything. At the end of the day, it’s either they’re speaking to you or they’re speaking to someone else.”
