The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Police has apprehended a pastor, Abiodun Sunday Oluwadare, also known as Ara-ina, in Ido-Ile Ekiti, for allegedly strangulating his 8-month pregnant wife, Tosin Oluwadare, over the weekend.

The pastor, a self-proclaimed former notorious herbalist, had been posted to a popular Christ Apostolic Church in Ori Oke Ido Mountain in Ekiti West, from which he had previously been expelled.

The step-brother of the deceased, Samuel Ibironke, revealed that the pastor called his wife, who was a health worker, to assist him, only to discover that he had strangled his sister to death. The suspect was apprehended with the corpse on his way out of town for the evacuation of the fetus in his dead wife’s womb without parental approval.

The pastor was taken to the police post in Ido-Ile and later to Ekiti West District Police before being transferred to the homicide section of the state command. Earlier in the year, the pastor had faced allegations of kidnapping a child on the mountain where he worked, leading to his dismissal from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) before being reinstated.

Reports indicate that the pastor was legally married to Adeyemi Adetola Oluwadare, who already had two grown children with him before he allegedly killed her, along with her eight-month pregnancy. The deceased, being the only child of her mother, has left her in a state of coma since the incident.

The Kabiyesi, Olojudo of Ido-Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, expressed deep sadness over the occurrence and called for a thorough investigation, urging the authorities to bring the culprit to justice to serve as a deterrent. The police in Ido-Ile confirmed the incident, and a source at the police state command disclosed that an investigation has been launched, with the suspect expected to be charged to court soon.
