Israeli forces have surrounded the house of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza multiple sources in Israel have affirmed.

However, GWG.ng reports that Yahya Sinwa has not lived in the house located in Gaza’s second city, Khan Younis for years.

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who confirmed the development the presence of Israeli Defence Forces, IDF around the Khan Younis home of Sinwar said that it was “only a matter of time” for the 61-year-old former Israeli prisoner to be captured.

Yahya Sinwar is believed to have ordered the October 7 assault on Southern Israel that led to the death of more than 1,200 Israelis and foreigners and the capture of more than 200 others. At least 130 of them including a 10-month old baby are still being held by Hamas operatives in Gaza.

Israel has prided itself in eliminating Hamas leaders as against capturing them alive and IDF and Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency are regularly updating the public on the elimination of Hamas leaders taken out by IDF and other Israeli military operations.

However, Yahya Sinwar remains a primary target for Israel and the circling of his home in Khan Younis was being celebrated with some measure of elation in Israel given the perceptions about him.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Hamas has ordered the opening of mosques near the Rafah border to take in refugees, a move some are insinuating is to give cover for Yahya Sinwar and other Hamas leaders to use underground tunnels which can be accessed through the mosques to slip out of Gaza into Egypt.

Reports in Israeli social media have claimed that Sinwar while he was a prisoner in Israel suffered from brain cancer but was cured following an aggressive treatment on him by Israeli doctors.
