Mohbad: Naira Marley Takes Legal Action Against Iyabo Ojo, Demands N500 Million for Defamation (Photo)

In a new development, Nigerian artiste and entertainer, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has initiated legal proceedings against actress Iyabo Ojo.

The legal action from Naira Marley stems from allegations of defamation related to a September 2023 Instagram post by Iyabo Ojo.

In a letter sent by Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo Ojo was said to have falsely accused Naira Marley of engaging in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba. The lawyer asserted that Ojo further accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad, whom she referred to as a brother.

The legal representative for Naira Marley is seeking redress in the form of N500 million in damages and a public apology from Iyabo Ojo. Naira Marley’s demand includes a request for the apology to be posted on Iyabo Ojo’s official Instagram account and published in a national daily.

The letter emphasized that failure to comply with these conditions would lead to the initiation of a lawsuit against Ojo. It stated, “It is unarguably clear that the above quoted words are in their ordinary and natural meanings meant or were understood to mean by ordinary right-thinking members of the public that have read the post that our Client is a drug addict and that he laced the food and drinks which our Client gave to the boys staying with him with drugs with the resultant effect of occasioning monumental destruction of their lives.”
