Presidency officials were as at early Thursday still to react after former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo took a U-turn in his rabid support for the Bola Tinubu-led federal government and labeled it as the worst in a viral video clip that surfaced on Wednesday.

Once a staunch supporter of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asari Dokubo expressed deep disappointment, particularly on behalf of the Ijaw ethnic group in the circulating video that has been trending. He claimed that the Ijaw people are growing increasingly discontented with the present administration.

In the video, Asari Dokubo lamented the current state of affairs, revealing that he had assured the Ijaw people that the Tinubu government would perform well. However, he now alleges that the Tinubu administration is proving to be a nightmare for the Ijaw community.

Asari Dokubo in the video highlighted the political crisis in Rivers State as a litmus test for President Tinubu’s administration. He suggested that if any repercussions were to emerge due to what he perceives as bad governance, it would likely begin in Rivers State.

Expressing his inability to restrain any potential reactions from the aggrieved, Asari stated, “I cannot stop them. As an individual, I cannot stop them, I cannot even stand in their way.”

Meanwhile, three months ago, GWG.ng reported that during the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC Judgement, Youths dressed in black and red attire branded with the name of the ex-militant leader Asari Dokubo have taken positions close to the court in the vicinity of the Bullet Building near the court.

Refreshing your memory, GWG.ng recalled that while the judgement was ongoing, Asari Dokubo’s troops carried placards and were seen in videos and chanted in solidarity with Tinubu a safe distance from the PEPC hearing.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards said, ‘Niger Deltans stand with the mandate given to BAT by over 200 million Nigerians’, ‘President Tinubu loves Niger Delta’, and ‘Thank you Tinubu for restoring the Niger Delta Ministry’.
