Ten Years After TV Gaffe, Obafaiye Becomes A Real ‘Oga At The Top’ Of NSCDC
Almost ten years after, Shem Obafaiye, the iconic Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer renowned for his memorable “my Oga at the top” gaffe has finally been confirmed as an Oga at the top of the organogram at the NSCDC.
GWG.ng reports that Obafaiye has achieved a significant milestone in his career, becoming an oga at the top of the NSCDC with his promotion to the esteemed position of deputy commandant general.
The viral moment capturing Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo decorating Mr. Obafaiye and his colleagues emerged on Friday, creating waves of recognition and applause across social media.
The Ministry of Interior, in a tweet on Wednesday, shared the celebratory photos, stating, “As the chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), the minister, @BTOofficial, decorated the three new deputy commandants general of the @official_NSCDC today.”
Recall that Shem Obafaiye first gained public attention during an interview with Channels TV in January, 2014. When questioned about the NSCDC website, he humorously responded, “Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the website.” With a chuckle, he added, “My Oga at the top is working on the website, and I don’t have them.”
This candid phrase swiftly became a viral sensation, evolving into a prominent slogan within the Nigerian social media landscape.
