In a candid Instagram post on Friday, December 15, Toyin Lawani disclosed that she was clinically dead for ten minutes following complications during surgery, when her lungs collapsed during a health scare.

Toyin Lawani shared the news of her health struggles, detailing a battle with a degenerative spine and a cyst in her brain, requiring multiple surgeries. Lawani courageously posted a video chronicling her medical journey, showcasing the challenges she faced leading up to the operation and the subsequent recovery.

Recalling the traumatic experience, she wrote, “I legitimately died for a whole 10 mins. While I was pregnant for my daughter @kingtinukeleota, I started having serious neck/back/leg pains.” Lawani went on to describe instances of paralysis and reliance on painkillers, even during the filming of her reality show.

Diagnosed with a degenerative spine and a brain cyst, Toyin Lawani detailed the critical moments of her health scare, stating, “Guys, I died for a whole 10 minutes before they were able to bring me back. My lungs collapsed. I developed edema.” The reality star endured complications, necessitating a tracheostomy tube for three months.

Having undergone three surgeries with two more ahead to regain normal breathing and speaking abilities, Toyin Lawani shared her resilience amid the health challenge. She expressed forgiveness for negative comments and shed light on the challenges she faced amidst false narratives. Lawani urged others to appreciate the strength it takes to confront life-threatening situations, concluding with a call for empathy and understanding in the face of adversity.
