Vigilant operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) from the Lagos State Police Command on Christmas Eve made a significant arrest when they apprehended four individuals suspected of engaging in traffic robberies.

The arrest took place during a patrol at MKO Abiola’s Garden in Ojota, Lagos, around 7:30 p.m. The swift response of the RRS bike riders was triggered by a concerned victim who alerted them to the criminal activity in the area.

The suspects, namely Wasiu Olawale (23), an ex-convict released in May 2023; Adebayo Olatunbosun (20); Wale John (28); and Uche Ugwu (25), identified as the gang leader, were taken into custody.

In a decisive move to ensure the comprehensive prosecution of all those involved, the Commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, directed the Decoy Team to apprehend the fourth suspect on Monday. This proactive measure reflects the commitment of the RRS to swiftly and effectively address criminal activities in the region.

Five victims have come forward to RRS Headquarters, positively identifying the arrested suspects. The alleged perpetrators have confessed to their involvement in the crimes and are actively cooperating with the police to facilitate the apprehension of other individuals involved in these criminal activities.

As the investigations continue, the recovered items serve as crucial evidence in building a robust case against the suspects. Once the investigations are concluded, the arrested individuals will be charged and brought before the court, exemplifying the determination of the RRS to uphold public safety and hold criminals accountable for their actions. The collaborative efforts between law enforcement and vigilant citizens underscore the collective commitment to maintaining security within the community.
