RCCG Clarifies Directive On External Preachers
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has provided clarification on a recent directive that raised concerns of a ban on non-members preaching in its parishes.
A memo on Monday, January 8, 2024, had stated that “no external preacher, speaker, or minister should be permitted on any of our altars or platforms.” The directive, signed by Pastor Oladele Balogun, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, was addressed to all levels of leadership within the church globally.
The memo also indicated that Pastor Enoch Adeboye had further directed that only recognized members of the RCCG should be allowed to speak on altars or platforms.

In response to the widespread interpretation of a ban, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, the RCCG’s Head of Media and Public Relations, clarified that the directive is a guideline, not a ban. In an interview with The Punch, he explained, “What the church is saying is that before any of our branches invite a preacher from another church or another ministry, clearance should be sought.”
Olubiyi emphasized that this guideline is in line with the church’s doctrines and beliefs. He clarified, “We have our doctrines, we have our beliefs, we have our practices, and we have to be sure that if anybody outside the fold is coming to preach in any of our places, the authorities have to approve and be sure that the person flows along with our doctrine and our beliefs.” This, he noted, is aimed at maintaining the standards of the church.
The clarification seeks to dispel concerns of a blanket ban and underscores the importance of adhering to established guidelines in inviting external preachers to RCCG parishes.
