Renowned Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, known for his Afrobeat prowess and outspoken nature, recently revealed in a candid interview that he does not attend church and practices voodoo, commonly referred to as ‘juju’.

Speaking on the “Spill With Phyna” show hosted by reality star Phyna, the Grammy-nominated artiste disclosed that he does not go to church and follows traditional African spiritual practices.

Seun Kuti shed light on the fact that the Anglican side of Christianity in Nigeria has roots in his family, as they were part of the pioneers. However, he emphasized that they have since moved on from practicing Christianity.

But how his practise of juju has turned him into a good model for society especially after his recent brush with the law was left hanging in the interview by Seun Kuti.

During the interview, Seun Kuti expressed his hope that Africans would follow suit and explore their own spiritual traditions. He highlighted the historical connection his family has with the Anglican side of Christianity but underlined their progression beyond it.
