US-based artiste Esquare who has been the topic of much discussion and controversy over the alleged beating of Nigerian singer, Portable has finally opened up over the incident.

According to the narrative presented by Esquare, there was a contractual agreement for Portable to collaborate on a music video for which he was paid N2.5 million. The collaboration was initially set to take place in September but was postponed to December due to scheduling conflicts.

Esquare, comprising Dr. Fortunate and Prince, explained that they had made arrangements to fly to Nigeria for the video shoot. However, they encountered issues when Portable did not show up at the agreed time and location.

After reaching out to Portable directly, he demanded an additional N1 million on top of the initial payment, citing that his manager had taken a portion of the funds. Esquare complied with this request and even traveled from Ajah, Lekki to Ogun State to transport Portable to the shoot.

During the shoot, Portable’s behavior was described as erratic, and he insisted on rushing the process due to other commitments.

When Esquare attempted to discuss the extra money paid to Portable after the shoot, the situation escalated. Portable allegedly became aggressive, claiming affiliation with a cult group, and threatened to call “Area boys” to disrupt the event and harm Esquare.

Esquare has publicly denied assaulting Portable, despite rumors and a viral video suggesting otherwise. They clarified that the altercation did not occur at Portable’s home but at a paid location.

They also refuted claims of attacking Portable, stating that about 40 people were involved in the incident that resulted in Portable sustaining injuries, including a broken leg.
