Ibadan INEC Office Engulfed In Mysterious Fire Amidst Strange Incidents
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday, January 26, was engulfed in another mysterious fire, compounding a series of recent unfortunate events in the region.
Dr. Adeniran Rahmon Tella, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, confirmed the incident, stating that the fire erupted around 10:30 a.m. Though the cause of the fire remains undetermined, preliminary suspicions point towards a possible power surge. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but some logistic materials were consumed by the flames.
GWG.ng reports that the timing of this incident is notable, occurring on the same day reports emerged of a jet crash and just a week after an explosion rocked the Bodija area of the city. These events have raised concerns about the safety and stability of the region.
Despite the challenges, Dr. Tella assured the public that the upcoming Saki/West State Constituency re-run election scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024, would proceed as planned. Efforts to investigate the fire are underway, and Dr. Tella remains optimistic that the electoral process will remain unaffected.
The confluence of these incidents underscores the need for thorough investigations and heightened security measures to ensure the safety and resilience of the community in the face of unexpected challenges
