Lagos Police Identify Officer Caught In Bribe Video

The Police Command in Lagos State has identified the officer captured on video demanding bribe from a motorist as ASP Luka Bashayi.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the disclosure on his verified X handle @benHundeyin on Saturday.

He said that the erring officer had been identified and investigation into the matter has begun.

“We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command.

“The Lagos Police Complaint Unit (CRU) has commenced actions on this,” the police image maker said.

In a video which went viral on Saturday, the police officer was seen demanding bribe from a motorist.

The officer insisted that the motorist would not leave unless he paid him the demanded bribe.

He said to the motorist, “Do sharp sharp and go now, if not, I will do my job.”

He called his bank account details to the motorist for him to transfer money before he would allow him to go.

Meanwhile, the identification of the officer allegedly caught in the bribe video in Lagos came as the Police in Abia have arrested three suspects who impersonated as EFCC operatives to rob students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, (MOUAU) Umudike at gunpoint.

Police spokesperson in the state, ASP Maureen Chinaka, stated in Umuahia on Saturday that police got information on Tuesday that a four-man gang in EFCC uniforms was robbing the students at their residence.

She stated that the robbers dispossessed some of the students of their phones and forced them to transfer N120,000 to the assailants’ bank accounts.

Chinaka added that the police visited the crime scene and arrested three of the robbers at the Man-O-War base in MOUAU.

She stated also that police recovered six stolen phones and the operational tricycle of the robbers from them.
