APC: New Agitations Against Ganduje As Yahaya Bello’s Posters Surface

Posters signposting the interest of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the office of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC have surfaced at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

The development is coming days after Yahaya Bello handed over to his successor, Usman Ododo indicating his possible quest to redress what many see as the injustice done to his North Central zone when the office of national chairman was gifted to the incumbent, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje from the North West.

The incumbent national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, hails from the North West geopolitical zone. However, a surge of posters in the party’s Abuja headquarters suggests a brewing challenge to the status quo.

Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune reveal that certain APC chieftains from the North Central zone have been advocating for a shift in the party’s leadership to their region. This push is fueled by the argument that Ganduje’s predecessor, former Nasarawa State Governor Senator Abdullahi Adamu, hailed from the North Central zone, and it is time to restore balance.

Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman from the North West, who resigned on the eve of Ganduje’s emergence, has been vocal about his belief that Ganduje’s ascent to the position contradicted the zoning arrangement within the APC. Lukman’s earlier resignation, coupled with the influx of Bello’s posters, sets the stage for potential internal party dynamics leading up to the APC’s next national chairman election.

The emergence of Yahaya Bello’s posters amplifies the underlying tensions within the party, as APC members await further developments in what promises to be a pivotal moment for the party’s leadership structure.
