Joeboy Dumps Mr Eazi’s Empawa Music, Unveils His Record Label

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Joseph Akinfenwa Akinwale, popularly known as Joeboy, has embarked on a new chapter in his musical journey by parting ways with his previous record label, Empawa music, owned by Mr. Eazi.

Despite bidding farewell to Empawa music, the 26-year-old artiste has embraced a promising dual deal with the global music powerhouse, Warner Music. This move aligns him with musical heavyweights such as Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, and Ckay under the Warner Music umbrella.

In an exciting development, Joeboy has taken the entrepreneurial route by launching his very own record label, ‘Young Legend,’ marking a significant milestone in his career. Under the Warner Music membership, this new venture positions him to explore artistic freedom and creative control.

Joeboy assumes the role of CEO within his Young Legend label, while Deola Jaiyesimi steps in as the Head of the label. Deola will play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of Afrobeats superstars on a global scale, showcasing Joeboy’s commitment to fostering emerging talent.

It’s noteworthy that Mr. Eazi, who discovered Joeboy in 2017, played a pivotal role in Joeboy’s early career by signing him into Empawa. Now, Joeboy’s evolution includes leveraging his social influence and business acumen, following in the footsteps of industry veterans like Olamide, Don Jazzy, and his former label boss, Mr. Eazi.

Throughout his career, Joeboy has left an indelible mark with two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and a plethora of popular singles and collaborations, amassing over 2 billion streams on major digital platforms.

Taking to his Instagram page, Joeboy shared the exhilarating news with his fans, posting a ritual-themed clip to announce the birth of his record label. In his caption, he expressed the dawn of a new era, signifying the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey with Young Legend.
