A rally commemorating the victory of Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Supreme Court victory was on Monday by youths suspected to be allegedly acting on the order of a senior local government official.

The group, allegedly acting on the orders of the senior local government official (name withheld) wrought havoc by vandalizing canopies and chairs at the initially designated venue for the rally.

Undeterred by this setback, the program organizers swiftly relocated the event to another location.

Despite the initial disruption by the alleged thugs, the rally attracted an impressive turnout, with the presence of past and serving lawmakers, commissioners, and the governor’s representative, Evans Bipi. Addressing the crowd, Sokari Goodboy, leader of Fubara’s supporters in Ahoada West, called attention to the provocative actions and urged the Presidency and the police high command to take note.

Evans Bipi, in his capacity as the representative of Governor Fubara at the rally, reassured the crowd, advising them not to succumb to intimidation, including rumors of potential suspensions from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other threats. The event also saw the welcome of defectors from the opposition party into the PDP, underscoring a show of solidarity for Governor Fubara.

Despite these challenges, rallies celebrating the governor’s Supreme Court victory persist across the state, with supporters organizing street processions and open-air thanksgiving services, reflecting a determination to overcome disruptions and continue expressing their support and gratitude.
