Outrage As 13-Step Bride Price List Shocks Nigerians

A Nigerian lady, Chidimma, has expressed shock over the outrageous and expensive bride price list her brother-in-law received from the family of his Rivers State-born bride.  

Chidimma revealed via her social media handle, with pictures of a two-page bridal price list accompanying her post. She said that the two pages were from a 13-step bride list. 

She lamented: “My brother in-law is getting married to the love of his life who’s from Rivers State, he just sent the bride price list to the group and everyone is angry.”

Chidimma opined that she thought Imo state had the most expensive bride price list until she saw the one from Rivers.

“Wait ! I thought Imo state has the highest list for bride price , what is this list that has 13 steps before someone can marry. 

“Aah aah!!!! Me sef I’m vexing on his behalf, it’s too long and expensive! I cropped some parts because yunno, this thing has step one to thirteen Big big things” she said.

The said expensive bride price list has sparked up angry reactions from netizens. See some reactions:

The man said, “Men will hustle to start businesses or get good jobs only to marry virginless women, women that have been duged, decimated, dismantled and destroyed,before they marry such women, they spend foolishly on these women, put them on salary, act foolish for these women, some even spend on the ladies family, and they call it love, then he pays bride price, 20k, 50k, 100k, 300k for a woman not a Virgin, even if she is a virgin, bride price should not pass 30k and small food items.”
