A 20-year-old woman, Aisha Aliyu, is reported to have stabbed and killed her husband, Idris Ahmadu, in Nasarawa village, situated in the Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to accounts from residents, the incident occurred around 1 am on Monday, February 12, 2024, sending shockwaves through the community. The couple, who had recently tied the knot on December 31, 2023, seemingly had a tumultuous end to their brief marriage.

Sources revealed that the couple had a minor disagreement on Sunday evening, which appeared to have been resolved before they retired to bed. However, tragedy struck in the dead of night when the mother of the deceased was awakened by her son’s screams. Rushing to his aid alongside other residents, they discovered Idris Ahmadu lying in a pool of blood, desperately attempting to flee his assailant. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive.

Witnesses recounted a harrowing scene, with Aisha Aliyu allegedly inflicting fatal wounds on her husband, first stabbing him in the chest before ultimately slaughtering him. The motive behind the gruesome act remains unclear, leaving the community reeling from shock and disbelief.

Further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident revealed a complex history between the couple. Despite their recent nuptials, it was disclosed that Aisha had expressed reservations about the marriage, indicating a change of heart and even considering another suitor. However, efforts were made to reconcile their differences, and the wedding proceeded as planned, unbeknownst to the tragic outcome that would follow.

Confirming the incident in which the woman is reported to have killed her husband, the spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged the tragic loss of Idris Ahmadu at the hands of his wife, Aisha Aliyu. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect are underway as investigations into the case continue
