Edo APC Chief Advises Leadership On Peaceful Primary
Chief Stanley Osifo, a former All Progressives Party (APC) presidential aspirant , has advised the leadership of party to do all its best to ensure a peaceful governorship primary ahead of the Edo 2024 election.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)reports that governorship election in the state is scheduled to hold on Sept.21.
Chief Stanley Osifo, in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Lagos, said a peaceful primary was key to the success of the APC at the governorship election.
“All hands must be on deck for the conduct of a credible and peaceful Edo guber primary because this would engender a peaceful atmosphere which is a prelude to possible victory in the election.
“I call on all stakeholders, including aspirants and other members, to make sure that we achieve a peaceful primary, because that would make or mar the party during the contest’’, he said.
Osifo advised party stakeholders to follow established guidelines for the exercise and support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate at the primary.
Stanley Osifo also tasked the APC on a formidable campaign,saying it was imperative to guarantee the party’s victory on Sept.21.
“Any aspirant who eventually emerges as the APC standard bearer must be magnanimous in victory so that others can join hands with him during the main election,” Osifo said.
He suggested that the party should come up with an arrangement to accommodate all aspirants after the primary ,and should discourage contestants from challenging the outcome of the exercise.
“APC is one step ahead of reclaiming Edo. Every supporter of the party must make it a point of duty to ensure a peaceful and acceptable conduct, because that is one very important action for us to return to power.
“APC remains a party to beat because we have all it takes to provide good governance and development in Edo,” Stanley Osifo said.
“The indicators of past delivery of good governance by APC are multifaceted and still available for reference,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 12 governorship aspirants had already purchased forms for the party’s primary election, slated for Feb.16. (NAN)
