Ize-Iyamu withdrawal

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has formally informed the All Progressives Congress, APC indicating his withdrawal from the Edo State governorship race. He has also pledged his support for whoever emerges as the APC’s candidate.

GWG.ng reports that the formal withdrawal was contained in a letter to the national chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and obtained by this news website.

In making his withdrawal, Pastor Ize-Iyamu who was about the most recognized aspirant in the race said he took the decision following consultations with family, friends, and political associates.

In the letter to Ganduje, he also appreciated the party for giving him the opportunity to contest as against the alleged bias of the Senator Adams Oshiomhole led state caucus which ruled him and some others out of the race.

He wrote;
“I entered the contest as a progressive democrat, with an open mind to keenly contest and accept the result of a process that is fari, credible and transparent. I appreciate the commendable effort made by the National Working Committee, NWC of the APC to correct the erroneous impression maliciously created by certain persons that some aspirants including myself had been disqualified from the gubernatorial contest.

“The NWC constituted the authentic screening committee and all twelve aspirants who purchased and completed the nomination form were successfully screened and subsequently issued clearance certificates.

“This step was praise worthy and helped in restoring our integrity in the eyes of the public.”

He, however, said that having been cleared that he had decided to withdraw.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu further assured his supporters that he would continue to be there for his supporters at all times despite his withdrawal from the contest for the APC ticket in Edo State.
