Prominent American Actress Adopts Nigerian Name
Jennifer Lopez, the renowned American actress and singer, has recently embraced a Nigerian name, ‘Ifunanya,’ suggested by Nigerian media personality Drea Okeke during a candid interview. Okeke, referring to Lopez as a “certified lover girl,” highlighted that Ifunanya translates to love in the Igbo language.
Intrigued by the notion of having a Nigerian name, Lopez eagerly inquired during the interview, prompting Okeke to explain the significance behind the name. “Because you’re a certified lover girl, this name means love. It is Ifunanya. That’s your name, love,” Okeke elucidated.
Overjoyed by the suggestion, Lopez wholeheartedly embraced the name, exclaiming, “Ifunanya! Call me Ifunanya,” signaling her appreciation for the cultural connection and endearment embedded in the name.
The exchange didn’t end there; Okeke further proposed a Nigerian name, “Obim,” which translates to “my heart,” for Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck. Delighted by the suggestion, Lopez expressed her fondness for the name, affirming, “Obim? I like that. I will call all my kids that.”
This delightful interaction sheds light on Lopez’s openness to embracing diverse cultures and traditions, as well as her affectionate bond with her husband, Affleck. Their recent marriage in 2023, following a rekindling of their romance, marks a significant milestone in their enduring relationship, symbolizing love and commitment even after a 17-year hiatus since their initial breakup.
