Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Mohamed Salah is primed to inflict further damage on Manchester United when the two rivals clash in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final.

The Egyptian winger, who netted his 20th goal of the season in a 6-1 Europa League rout of Sparta Prague on Thursday, is back in top form after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Salah boasts a phenomenal record against United, having netted an impressive 12 goals in just 13 meetings. His return is a major boost for Liverpool as they chase an unprecedented quadruple this season.

Under Klopp, Liverpool have already secured the League Cup and are neck-and-neck with Arsenal in the Premier League title race. The German boss is looking to his star player to be the difference-maker in the season’s final stretch.

“Mo is pure quality,” Klopp declared at his pre-match press conference. “He’s a world-class player, and his presence on the pitch is invaluable. We’ve managed well without him, but having him back is a huge advantage.”

Manchester United, on the other hand, are in dire need of a morale boost after a disappointing second season under Erik ten Hag. The FA Cup presents their last chance to salvage some silverware.

However, they hold the distinction of being the only team to shut out Liverpool this season, securing a 0-0 draw at Anfield back in December.

Despite Liverpool’s recent dominance, Klopp has a less than stellar record at Old Trafford, winning only twice in nine visits.

“It’s always a difficult fixture,” admitted Klopp. “The rivalry is fierce, and both sets of fans are incredibly passionate. We’ll give it our all, but there are no guarantees.”

Liverpool’s injury woes are slowly easing, with Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch potentially returning on Sunday. However, key players Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and Diogo Jota remain out until after the upcoming international break.
