The polity in Delta State was on Sunday morning in suspense amid reports of fire on houses in the Okuoma, Bomadi community where soldiers were killed at the weekend.

GWG.ng reports that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had in a strong reaction rebuked the action of the assailants saying their action was strange to the culture of the people.

The governor in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon had vowed to cooperate with security agencies towards apprehending the culprits.

However, on Sunday morning pictures and videos emerged on twitter to the effect that many houses in Okuoma community where the incident happened had been set on fire.

State officials were yet to confirm the development but have continued to say that the governor remains in his vow to mete justice on the culprits.

Reports reaching us states  that the community in Delta state where soldiers were allegedly killed has been  set on fire.

This was not the same reaction from the Nigerian Army when soldiers were killed in North.

The killing of soldiers in Delta is sad. As we advocate for justice it is important that we remember that justice is not same thing as genocide. Nigerian Army’s response should be within the ambits of the Law.

“Wipe them out… Raze them down…”

This is not an Israeli Army.

Meanwhile, differing accounts of what happened in Okuoma community have begun to emerge with one twitter user alleging that an earlier detachment of soldiers came and killed two persons in the village triggering the response from some community members.
