In a tragic incident rocking Ikot Ekang community in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, suspected hired assassins brutally murdered two revered clerics, Prophet Elisha Asuquo, General Overseer of Mount of Solution Redeemed Church, and Apostle Aniekan Ibanga, a pastor in the same church.

The assailants, arriving on a motorcycle, disrupted a meeting held by the pastors, swiftly opening fire and leaving both men dead before fleeing via the Abak-Ikot Ekpene federal highway.

The sudden and violent attack has left the community reeling in shock and mourning, struggling to comprehend the motive behind such brutality.

Prophet Asuquo hailed from Adiasim in Essien Udim Local Government Area, while Pastor Ibanga was from Ikot Obioikpa village, Afaha Obong Clan in Abak Local Government Area. Their deaths not only deprived the community of spiritual leaders but also created a void for those who relied on them for guidance and support.

Following the tragedy, a delegation led by the village head of Ikot Obioikpa visited the village head of Ikot Ekang, seeking answers regarding any underlying church issues that might have led to the devastating outcome. However, investigations revealed no known crises within the church that could have triggered such violence.

Prompted by concerned individuals, the police arrived at the scene to initiate investigations, urged by the community to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, the younger brother of Apostle Ibanga, Uduak Ibanga, discovered his late brother’s two phones in a nearby bush, serving as a poignant reminder of the family’s loss and the broader community’s grief.
