Mechanic Remanded For Allegedly Failing To Repair Customer’s Car

A 37-year-old mechanic, Innocent Okewu, was on Thursday remanded by a Karu Upper Area Court, sitting in Abuja for allegedly failing to repair his customer’s car.

The judge, Isa Adamu ordered that the defendant be remanded until March 23, to determine his bail conditions.

The defendant, who resides at Masaka, Karu, Nasarawa State is being tried for criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation, offence he denied committing.

The prosecution counsel, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the complainant, Bernard Egbing of Nyanya, Abuja reported the matter at the Karu Police station on Dec. 27, 2023.

“The complainant alleged that sometime in May, 2023, he entrusted his Toyota Camry car with registration number KP931TD to the defendant.

“The complainant also gave the defendant the sum of N144,000 to assist him repair the said vehicle, instead the defendant took the vehicle and abandoned it with another mechanic without his consent.

“However, investigation is still on going in view of recovering the said vehicle,” Osho told the court.

The offence contravened sections 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code
