Ibadan Residents Mourn Death Of 84-Year-Old Crocodile (Photo)

Residents of Oje area in Ibadan, located within the Ibadan North-East Local Government, are grieving the loss of a cherished member of their community – an 84-year-old crocodile.

The crocodile, which had been a familiar sight at the renowned Delesolu’s Palace in Ibadan, passed away on Thursday, leaving many residents saddened by its departure. Over the years, the crocodile had become a unique attraction, drawing tourists to the ancient city of Ibadan.

Chief Raufu Yusuff Delesolu (popularly known as Ayingun Olubadan), who heads the family and holds a respected position in Ibadan, shared insights into the history of the crocodile. He revealed that the crocodile had been brought to the “Igbejo Delesolu” in 1940, following the acquisition of the first one by some white men.

The passing of the crocodile marks the end of an era for the community, leaving behind memories of its presence and the unique charm it brought to the Delesolu’s Palace.
