Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old Moroccan woman identified as Asmaa for allegedly setting ablaze the house of her 41-year-old Chinese boyfriend, Xunxue, in Oregun, Ikeja.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, March 30, prompted a swift response from the police after a fire broke out in the building located within an estate in the Oregun area of Lagos.

Initial investigations revealed that Asmaa and Xunxue had a heated disagreement, leading her to allegedly set the house on fire while her boyfriend and two others were inside.

During interrogation, Asmaa recounted her ordeal, claiming that Xunxue had brought her to Nigeria and confined her to his house for six months. She alleged that he exploited her, preventing her from working or earning money, and solely used her for his pleasure.

“He used me for six months and doesn’t want to do any visa for me. He doesn’t want me to work or do anything that can get me money. He just wants me to sit at home. If I tell him to buy me a ticket, he would say no. He just wants me to sit at home, f-ck free for six months. Sit at home and wait for him to come back from work,” Asmaa expressed her frustration.

Asmaa confessed to setting the house on fire, stating that she intended to take her own life due to the despair caused by Xunxue’s actions.
