Match Preview: Brighton vs Arsenal

Time: 5:30pm

Location: The American Express Community Stadium

Brighton:

Manager Roberto De Zerbi faces the challenge of missing key players ahead of the crucial game against Arsenal. Evan Ferguson and Ansu Fati remained sidelined during midweek, and the manager has confirmed that Irish striker Ferguson will miss the Saturday game. Additionally, Adam Webster will be absent for the weekend fixture.

Kaoru Mitoma, Jack Hinshelwood, Billy Gilmour, Solly March, and James Milner are all sidelined for Brighton. Carlos Baleba and Pascal Gross are expected to feature in central midfield. Joel Veltman and Pervis Estupinan are likely to occupy the full-back roles, with Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul van Hecke forming the ideal center-back partnership.

Joao Pedro is expected to play behind the striker, with Julio Enciso and Simon Adringa on the wings. Former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is set to lead the line for Brighton, aiming to disrupt his old club’s title ambitions.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Estupinan; Baleba, Gross; Enciso, Pedro, Adringra; Welbeck

Arsenal:

Arsenal are uncertain about Bukayo Saka’s fitness and may not risk him ahead of the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. However, with the Premier League race intensifying, manager Mikel Arteta might opt to include Saka if he is deemed fit for the Brighton trip.

Aside from Saka, only Jurrien Timber is unavailable, leaving Arteta with a full squad to choose from. Some fringe players impressed in midweek, including Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe, but they are unlikely to start on Saturday.

In defense, Arteta could opt for Jakub Kiwior instead of Oleksandr Zinchenko, and he may consider starting Takehiro Tomiyasu alongside the regular center-back pairing. However, Ben White’s recent form makes it difficult to leave him out, so he is expected to continue on the right.

Jorginho and Declan Rice are likely to return to the midfield alongside Martin Odegaard, while Arteta may introduce Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Kai Havertz is expected to lead the attack, with Saka potentially on the right flank.

Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Raya; Ben White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.
