Renowned Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya is gearing up to make history by challenging the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon, right in the bustling heart of New York City’s Times Square.
Founder of Chess in Slums Africa, Onakoya aims to engage in an impressive 58-hour-long chess session, all while striving to remain undefeated throughout the duration of the challenge.
Driven by a profound mission to empower underprivileged children, Onakoya expressed his unwavering commitment to his cause, stating, “Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”
Currently in New York, Onakoya has been actively honing his skills and showcasing his prowess at various chess events, clubs, and amidst the vibrant energy of Times Square.
In a social media post, Onakoya announced his ambitious endeavor scheduled for April 17, 2024, inviting the world to witness his attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
