In a compassionate move aimed at ensuring a dignified farewell for Abigail Frederick, the makeup artist tragically lost in a boat mishap alongside Nollywood actor Junior Pope and three others, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has directed the exhumation of her body for a proper burial in her hometown.

The decision comes amidst reports that the body of Abigail Fredrick was given a hasty burial at the bank of the river without proper ceremony or family consent following the tragic accident on April 10.

Allegations surfaced suggesting that cultural beliefs compelled the villagers to bury her by the river, citing the need for a sacrifice to appease the river goddess before relocating her remains.

Describing her as a shining example of Akwa Ibom’s youth, Udoh conveyed the government’s condolences to Abigail’s family, the Nollywood community, and her associates.

Clarifying that the government was unaware of the circumstances surrounding the burial of Abigail Fredrick, the statement emphasized Governor Umo Eno’s directive for her body to be brought back to her family for a proper and respectable burial.

The decision reflects the state’s commitment to upholding dignity and respect in death, ensuring that Abigail’s memory is honored with the reverence she deserves.

”His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, has consequently directed that her body be brought back to her family for a proper and decent burial.
