Man Appears in Court for Allegedly Stealing N2 Million Worth of Batteries

A 52-year-old man, identified as Bamidele Adeleke, made an appearance before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, following allegations of stealing 200 high voltage batteries valued at N2 million.

Adeleke, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing charges of theft, as brought forth by Mr. Philip Amusan, the Prosecutor.

Amusan informed the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on April 8 within the vicinity of the University of Ibadan, specifically at I.H.S Telecommunications.

According to Amusan, the theft is in violation of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Upon hearing the charges, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

Presiding over the case, Mrs. Moji Aworemi, the chief magistrate, granted Adeleke bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.

The hearing has been adjourned till May 9, allowing for further proceedings in the case.
