Why More Banks Are Coming To Asaba – Oborevwori
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Tuesday, said his administration would continue to actively promote and sustain a business- friendly environment that would significantly attract potential investors to the state, a fact underpinned by the influx of banks into Asaba, the state capital.
Governor Oborevwori, who disclosed this while inaugurating the Asaba Branch of Signature Bank, said his administration was continually seeking ways to enhance the ease of doing business in the state in order to attract more investors.
He said: “This administration is very pro-business and it is continually seeking the ways to enhance the ease of doing business in the state in order to attract more investors.
“One of the ways we have achieved this is through enhancing peace and security which is the fourth pillar of our MORE Agenda.
“We are constantly working with the relevant security agencies to sustain the tempo of peace that we currently enjoy in the state.
“This is to ensure that people can go about their lawful businesses without fear or hindrance. Many people come into Delta State on a daily basis.
“So, I want to assure you that, as you have come to open this branch here and proposing another one in Warri, the bank will enjoy the government’s support”.
While expressing delight at the official commissioning of the bank in Asaba, the Governor said the State Government was more than happy to welcome the additional bank to the rapidly expanding banking sector in the state.
He pointed out that Asaba had witnessed the influx of old and new generation banks in the last five years or thereabout because of the city’s growing reputation as a peaceful centre for trade, commerce, entertainment and hospitality.
“Also, with its transformation into a modern city, Asaba is a strong pool for young professionals and entreprenuers, hence the prospects for commercial banking are huge.
“Since the founding of the Signature Bank in 2022, it has steadily built a reputation for customised banking services, creating solutions to customers’ need and deploying cutting edge technology and a strong culture of excellence in professionalism.
“I have no doubt that its presence in Asaba will enliven the banking sector in the state and lead to healthier competition, which is good for customers,” the Governor added.
Governor Oborevwori said he was excited by the prospect of employment opportunities that the bank would bring to Deltans because, according to him, job creation was one of the four pillars of the MORE Agenda of his administration.
He affirmed that the coming of Signature Bank to Asaba would also boost the retail economy in the state, even as he assured the board, management and staff of the bank that they would find Delta State a sustainably conducive place for doing business.
Earlier, the Acting Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Godwin Nosike, said the establishment of a branch in Asaba was a testament to the bank’s belief in the opportunities and friendly business environment that the state provides, adding that they were in the process of setting up another branch in Warri.
“We have experienced the friendship and cordial reception of the state right from the time we commenced the construction of the branch. We are immensely grateful for this.
“It is also our belief that we will continue to enjoy this hands of friendship as we set out to do business in the state,” Nosike said.
