Arsenal’s hopes for a Champions League advancement were dashed as Joshua Kimmich’s powerful header secured Bayern Munich’s spot in the semi-finals, making Thomas Tuchel only the second man to guide a team to the semis with three different teams.

Following an intense 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium, the tie hung in the balance, but Bayern emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, courtesy of Kimmich’s goal.

Thomas Tuchel achieved a remarkable feat by guiding his team to the last four of the Champions League, becoming only the second manager to do so with three different clubs. With their eyes set on a Wembley final on June 1st, Tuchel’s side demonstrated the experience and pedigree accrued from years of deep runs in the tournament. Bayern’s qualification marked their 13th semi-final appearance and the ninth time they have reached this stage since Arsenal last made it to the semi-finals in 2009.

For Arsenal, their Champions League journey ended as they struggled to produce the needed performance away from home. With a history of never winning an away game from the quarter-finals onwards, Arsenal fell short once again. Following a recent setback in the Premier League, losing 2-0 to Aston Villa, their European aspirations were abruptly halted by Bayern’s seasoned expertise.

Additionally, the victory bolstered England captain Harry Kane’s prospects of claiming silverware in his debut season in Germany. Despite missing out on a Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, Kane remains in contention for other trophies, adding a compelling subplot to Bayern’s triumph.
