Government shut down Lead British International

The Nigerian government has shut down the Lead British International School, Abuja for three days over the case of a student of the school, Maryam Hassan, who was caught bullying her class mate, Namtira Bwala.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, announced the shutting down of the school following the outrage sparked by the viral video which captured Maryam repeatedly slapping and bullying Namtira.

GWG.ng earlier reported angry reactions from Nigerians following two viral videos which captured the female student being bullied by her classmates. 

In one of the videos, the victim was seen being slapped repeatedly by another female student while asking “Who broke my heart?”.

In the second video, the female student was seen being interrogated and slapped repeatedly by her classmate.

The videos generated a lot of reactions from Nigerians who are calling on the appropriate authorities to grant justice to Namtira. 

GWG.ng reports that the management Lead British International school said it has commenced an investigation into the viral videos, saying that it was “deeply concerned” about the incident and noted that due investigation had begun into the matter.
