Tinubu Grieves Over President Raisi’s Death

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has expressed grief over the President Ebrahim Raisi and other Iranian Officials who died in a plane crash on Sunday.

Gwg.ng earlier reported that Raisi and nine others On Sunday lost their lives after a helicopter conveying them crashed due to poor weather conditions in the mountains near the Azerbaijan border, officials and state media confirmed Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, rescue teams had begun searching for Raisi when the aircraft went missing.

On Monday morning, relief workers located the missing helicopter and identified the president’s body and that of the others on board, according to State TV.

According to a statement signed by Tinubu’s Spokesperson, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the presidency said,

“President Tinubu expresses profound grief over this disturbing tragedy, and describes President Raisi as a leader who was passionately committed to the development of Iran.”

The statement titled ‘President Tinubu condoles with Iran over passing of President Raisi’ read further, “While commiserating with the bereaved families, Tinubu prays for the continuous peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, the President assures the Islamic Republic of Nigeria’s support and prayers in this moment of grief.”
