The final of the 2025/26 Champions League will be staged in Budapest, UEFA confirmed on Wednesday.

The showpiece event in European football’s premier club competition will take place at the Puskas Arena, the official home of the Hungary national team.

The stadium has already hosted a number of major football events since its opening, including four games at Euro 2020 and — most recently — the 2023 Europa League final between Sevilla and Roma.

From next season, the number of teams in the competition will increase from 32 to 36 as part of a new Champions League format agreed by UEFA in 2022.

A decision on the venue for the 2027 Champions League final will be confirmed in September, subject to the Italian Football Federation submitting information on refurbishment plans for the San Siro in Milan.

UEFA met in Dublin on Wednesday to finalise a number of key decisions, including future locations for the Europa League, Europa Conference League and Women’s Champions League finals.

Istanbul will host a major European final for the second time in three years after it was awarded the Europa League showpiece in 2026. The 2027 edition will take place in Frankfurt, Germany.

Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadion will stage the Women’s Champions League final in 2026.

Stuttgart was originally slated to host the 2027 final but a new bidding procedure will now take place as Germany is already staging finals in 2026 and 2027.

It was also announced the draw for the Women’s European Championship in 2025 will take place on December 16.

The 16-team tournament will begin on July 2 with the final scheduled for July 27, when holders England will be hoping to defend their crown from 2021.

UEFA’s executive committee will next meet on September 24 in Prague, Czech Republic.
