Emir Sanusi II case

The Department of State Security (DSS) has refuted claims that its agents raided the Emir of Kano’s palace following the state assembly’s dissolution of the five Emirate Councils.

Muhammad Alhassan, the DSS Director in Kano, emphasized that these reports are false, clarifying that no DSS operatives were sent to the Emir’s residence.

Alhassan elaborated that First Lady Oluremi Tinubu was in Kano for an official assignment and had planned to visit the Emir’s Palace.

However, upon discovering that the Emir was not present, she decided to reschedule her visit.

Addressing newsmen, Alhassan said: “We drafted our men as part of our schedules on the visit of the First Lady Oluremi Tinubu but learned that she was not going there and we withdrew our men.

“Therefore, the story that our men stormed the Emir’s Palace in the wake of the happenings with regards to the Emir is false, malicious and did not happen,” he said.

This follows reports that the Kano State government has reinstated former Central Bank Governor Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 14th Emir of Kano.
