Obaseki resign Ibhade

Hon (Sir) Clem Aziegbemi, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki who also serves as a spokesperson to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, Mr Asue Ighodalo has resigned his two positions.

Aziegbemi who is also a relation of the PDP Chairman in Edo State, Dr Tony Aziegbemi has also dumped the PDP in a move that was being celebrated by the opposition in the state as a three-in-one blow to the PDP.

Besides him, GWG.ng reports that a party chieftain, Martins Ighekpe also on Thursday released his letter of resignation, joining the flood of party cheifs who have left the PDP in Edo State.

In a letter to his ward chairman, PDP Ward 5, Esan South East Local Government Area, Aziegbemi said he resigned because of the crisis in the state chapter of the PDP which he said has been exacerbated by the willingness of Ighodalo to walk with new fellows outside those who worked for his emergence as candidate.

In a copy of the letter obtained by GWG.ng, Aziegbemi said:

“The cause of this massive defection of members from the PDP is largely due to the conquest attitude of of the Partly Leadership that lacks inclusivity of members into appointment in the State which the Party loyalists worked for, yet there were abandoned for new entrants. The old PDP members, which I belong to have suffered a great deal in the hands of the Party Leadership and those in government.

“Both the Governor and the Party’s Candidate have failed to address these issues begging for attention . with this ugly development still persisting, it will be very difficult for the Party to win any Local Government in the September 21st, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State. Another disturbing issue is the seeming hijack of the PDP Governorship candidate by a gang of political jobbers, as against those of us who laboured for him to emerge as candidate of the Party.

Kindly consider this as my resignation from every party responsibility, including my position as one of the spokepersons  to the Governorship candidate. Also this servs as a formal resignation as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Hon. (Sir) Clem Aziegbemi (KSJI)

GWG.ng reports that besides Aziegbemi, it also emerged that another chieftain, Martins Ighekpe who served in the party’s Constitution Drafting Committee also resigned from the party. Ighekpe like Aziegbemi is also from Ward 5.

In his letter of resignation obtained by GWG.ng he said:
