A disturbing incident occurred in Kaduna State where a woman, Habiba Ibrahim, allegedly severed her husband Salisu Idris’ manhood while he was asleep.

Salisu, a 40-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, had just returned from early morning prayers on May 26 when the attack happened. He was resting on his bed when Habiba, who is his newlywed wife, unexpectedly assaulted him with a sharp knife, nearly severing his genitals.

The violent act drew the attention of neighbors who rushed to Salisu’s aid upon hearing his screams.

Habiba was subsequently arrested by the police for her actions. In recounting the incident, Salisu expressed his bewilderment, noting that they had been married for about four months and had shared a loving relationship without any significant conflicts that might explain such an attack.

Following the incident, Salisu was urgently transported to a local hospital in Kudan. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the General Hospital Makarfi and then transferred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, where medical professionals worked to save his life.

“At the moment, I am more concerned about my condition. I am afraid of remarrying because of this incident,” he said.

Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who is looking after him on the hospital bed, said though they were not staying in the same compound, he had never complained to her about his wife.

“Her parents are worried and are willing to settle his medical bills,” she added.

Efforts to obtain information from doctors about his condition have been unsuccessful.

The Kaduna State Police have not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
