A landlord named Benjamin Apeh has reportedly died after collapsing during an argument with his tenant over unpaid rent.

According to SP Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun Police Command, the incident occurred on Sunday in Arigbabu Village, located in the Sotubo area of Sagamu local government in Ogun State.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Odutola explained that a suspected murder case was reported by the deceased’s daughter, Precious Apeh, on Monday at 5:00 pm.

Precious informed the police that her father had an argument with his tenant on Saturday at 7:20 pm regarding unpaid rent. She further stated that on Sunday around 6:30 am, she heard her father engaging in another argument with the same tenant, who allegedly threatened to kill him.

“During the argument, Apeh collapsed and was rushed to NNPC Hospital, Mosimi, but was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“The suspect fled the scene, but efforts are underway to apprehend him,” the police spokesman said.

Odutola reported that the deceased’s body has been placed in the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu.
