The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the beginning of the holy month of Dhul Hijjah on Friday, June 14, 2024.

This significant announcement determines the timing of crucial religious observances, including the Hajj pilgrimage and Eid Al-Adha celebrations.

The Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH will commence on June 14, with the day of Arafah, a vital day of prayer and reflection, taking place on June 15. Eid Al-Adha, the largest Islamic festival, will be observed on June 16, 2024.

The entire month of Dhul Hijjah is considered sacred, featuring a series of important days in the Muslim faith. It is one of the four sacred months for Muslims, known as Al Ash-hur Al Hurom, along with Rajab, Dhul Qa’dah, and Muharram.

The sighting of the crescent moon was made possible through the collective efforts of Muslims across the Kingdom, who were called upon by the Supreme Court to participate in the sighting on Wednesday.

This announcement marks the beginning of a significant period in the Islamic lunar calendar, and Muslims around the world are preparing to observe the holy month of Dhul Hijjah with devotion and piety.
