Southwest governors minimum wage meeting

A private meeting of Southwest governors is presently underway in Lagos State.

The session is being hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, situated in the Ikeja area of the state.

In attendance are Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, who were all welcomed by Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat.

This gathering is taking place against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations between the Nigerian Government and organized labor over a new national minimum wage. Labor unions are demanding N250,000, whereas the government has proposed N62,000.

There is a possibility that labor unions might commence a nationwide strike starting Tuesday if their demands are not met by the Nigerian government.
