Nigerian Forward, Chidera Ejuke Joins Sevilla On Free Transfer
Nigerian forward Chidera Ejuke is set to join Sevilla in Spain’s La Liga on a free transfer.
This move follows a successful loan spell with Royal Antwerp in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, where Ejuke showcased his skills and attacking prowess.
The 26-year-old winger spent the last season on loan at Royal Antwerp from his parent club, CSKA Moscow. With his four-year contract with the Russian club now expired, Ejuke is ready for a fresh start in Spain.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that a verbal agreement has been reached between Ejuke and Sevilla, with the official signing, medical check-up, and contract finalization expected next week. Chidera Ejuke will become only the second Nigerian to play for the Andalusian club, following Super Falcons star Toni Payne.
Chidera Ejuke is eager to make his mark in one of Europe’s top leagues, especially after a less successful loan spell with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in the 2022/23 season.
Sevilla hopes the Nigerian winger can help them rebound from their disappointing 14th-place finish in La Liga last season. His dribbling, passing, and long-range shooting are expected to add a much-needed spark to Sevilla’s attack.
This move represents a significant step up for Ejuke’s career. La Liga’s higher level of competition compared to the Belgian league will be a challenging but exciting opportunity for him.
With his talent and confidence, Chidera Ejuke has the potential to become a key player for Sevilla and possibly earn a call-up back to the Nigerian national team.
Ejuke has earned eight senior international caps, last featuring for Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (held in 2022) in Cameroon.
