Atiku and Buhari in Daura

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State on Saturday, accompanied by key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The visit, described as a courtesy call and to offer Sallah homage, has sparked discussions and speculations about political alliances and strategies for the upcoming elections.

Atiku posted photos of the visit on his X handle and wrote: “Accompanied by some stakeholders of our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig, we visited the Daura residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari to pay a courtesy call and offer Sallah homage.”

Atiku was a known critic of the administration of Buhari and his visit is being cited as a preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

If he indeed vies for the presidency in 2027, the former vice president will be the oldest Nigeria to seek political office at age 80.
