Tobi Amusan Withdraws From African Athletics Championships
By Benjamin Abioye
Tobi Amusan has withdrawn from the 23rd Senior Athletics Championship in Cameroon on account of health reasons.
Reports indicate she was diagnosed with a sore throat, preventing her from pursuing her goal of becoming the third Nigerian high hurdler to win the 100m hurdles for the third time at the African Athletics Championships.
Amusan, who recently secured victory in the Women’s 100m Hurdles Final at the National Trials in Benin City, Edo State, had aimed to maintain her momentum as she prepared to compete in the 100m Hurdles Heats for Nigeria.
Earlier, Amusan impressed fans in Benin City with her hurdling skills, successfully defending her national title and gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
